Normandy Four: Merkel, Macron call on Putin to advance negotiations
That’s according to Federal Government Spokesman Steffen Seibert who commented on trilateral talks held via video conference, Ukrinform reports.
The conference took place after the two leaders discussed the current situation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"The Chancellor and the President of France called on the President of Russia to advance the negotiations in the Normandy format," Seibert said.
Just as during the talks with Zelensky, the focus of the discussion was put on the need for full implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
The parties agreed to ask their respective diplomacy chiefs to meet as soon as possible, Seibert added.
As reported earlier, Ukraine, Germany, and France are ready to hold a new summit of the Normandy Four before Angela Merkel resigns, while Russia has been slowing down the process.
The latest Normandy Four Summit was held in Paris in December 2019.
