Ukraine suggests holding meeting of Associated Trio with EU
"We propose to hold another meeting in the EU + Associated Trio format in the near future to discuss further trade liberalization between Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and the EU in the context of the Green Deal and the digital transition of the European Union," Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said during an online briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Kuleba also stressed that the alliance countries would continue the practice of joint visits to the EU member states at all levels in order to acquaint European partners in detail with the Associated Trio initiative and the development of new areas of cooperation.
According to him, Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova seek to find additional tools to promote and accelerate the integration of the Associated Trio into the EU internal market.
The priority areas of cooperation between the Associated Trio and the EU are trade, security, healthcare, improving relations between the countries of the region, digitalization, and environmental protection, the chief Ukrainian diplomat noted.
As reported, on May 17, the foreign ministers of Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova signed a memorandum on the establishment of the Associated Trio for the joint successful European integration of the three countries.
On July 19, the leaders of the Associated Trio countries held a meeting in Batumi with the participation of European Council President Charles Michel.
In the declaration following the meeting, the parties called that accession to the European Union a goal uniting the three countries. The Associated Trio has no alternative to European integration, and no one will be able to influence that choice.
