Parliament ratifies Ukraine-Egypt agreement on transfer of sentenced persons

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, 290 MPs voted in favor of the relevant decision.

"With the adoption of the draft law, the Agreement between Ukraine and the Arab Republic of Egypt on the transfer of sentenced persons will be ratified, which will enter into force thirty days following the date of exchange of ratification instruments," the explanatory note reads.

It is noted that the conclusion of the document will create a legal mechanism necessary for effective cooperation of the competent agencies of the parties in the field of transfer of convicted persons. It will also enable citizens of the two countries to serve their sentences in the state of their citizenship, which will promote justice and social rehabilitation of convicted persons.

The agreement between Ukraine and the Arab Republic of Egypt on the transfer of sentenced persons was signed on June 1, 2021 in Cairo.
