Zelensky enacts NSDC’s decision on sanctions against 28 individuals

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has enacted the National Security and Defense Council’s decision to impose sanctions against 28 individuals.

The relevant decree, No.584/2021, was published on the president’s website, Ukrinform reports.

"To put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine as of August 20, 2021 ‘On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions),” the document reads.

According to the NSDC’s decision, proposals to impose sanctions were submitted by the Security Service.

The NSDC also instructed the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to inform the competent authorities of the European Union, the United States of America and other states about the application of sanctions and to raise the issue of imposing similar restrictive measures.

It is noted that restrictive measures have been imposed against 23 citizens of the Russian Federation and 5 citizens of Ukraine.

As reported, on August 20, the NSDC decided to impose personal restrictive sanctions on MP Andriy Derkach and other individuals under U.S. sanctions, as well as against people involved in activities of anti-Ukrainian media, including Strana.ua news site founder Igor Guzhva.
