Washington has reaffirmed its strong support for NATO's decision made in Bucharest in 2008, as well as the Alliance's recent summit in Brussels, that Ukraine and Georgia will become NATO members.
That is according to a statement by the U.S. Department of State "The Ironclad U.S. Commitment to NATO," released on Monday, November 29, Ukrinform reports.
"The United States continues to support NATO's decision in the 2008 Bucharest Summit Declaration, reaffirmed ever since, including in the June 2021 Brussels Summit, that Georgia and Ukraine will become NATO members," the document said.
Washington stressed that these countries' Annual National Programs (ANP) detail their path to membership.
"Already, both Georgia and Ukraine are members of the Enhanced Opportunities Partnership (EOP), which elevates their interoperability and training opportunities alongside NATO Allies," the Department of State said.
