Canada, Britain reiterate support for Ukraine
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Melanie Joly and UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Elizabeth Truss spoke about this at a meeting in Riga on Wednesday, December 1.
"Minister Joly and Foreign Secretary Truss condemned the human rights violations in Belarus by the Lukashenko regime, and they also reiterated their strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Global Affairs Canada said in a press release.
It notes that the ministers "reaffirmed their commitment to collective security and to working together to address pressing international issues, particularly in Eastern Europe."
"Minister Joly and Foreign Secretary Truss reaffirmed their common support for holding Iran to account for the downing of Flight PS752," the statement said.
The importance of multilateral action, particularly in ensuring unhindered humanitarian access to Afghanistan and Ethiopia, was also discussed.
