Lublin Triangle coordinators discuss security situation in the region
“Mykola Tochytskyi, Marcin Przydacz, and Mantas Adomėnas discussed in detail the security situation in the region amid the migrant crisis on the EU's borders with Belarus and Russia's military escalation near the state border and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The diplomats stressed their readiness to further coordinate their actions – in cooperation with the EU and NATO – in order to effectively counter hybrid threats and prevent a new wave of Russian aggression against Ukraine,” the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported.
In addition, the parties discussed the schedule of future contacts, signed a Joint Action Plan to Combat Disinformation for 2022-2023, and agreed on further steps to implement the Roadmap for Cooperation within the Lublin Triangle.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the meeting of national coordinators confirmed the readiness of the Lublin Triangle participants to deepen the strategic partnership, confirmed their common approaches to regional security, demand and prospects of the Lublin Triangle to respond to current challenges and threats.
As reported, the Lublin Triangle is a platform for trilateral cooperation between the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Poland, and Ukraine, aimed at deepening regional cooperation in the security, economic and socio-humanitarian spheres.
The decision to create the Lublin Triangle was made on July 28, 2020, by the ministers of foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland – Dmytro Kuleba, Linas Linkevičius, and Jacek Czaputowicz – who signed the declaration on the establishment of a new regional association.
The Lublin Triangle Joint Action Plan to Combat Disinformation for 2022-2023 provides for the preparation of regular joint reports on information challenges and threats, the development of a mechanism for a joint response to Russian destabilization campaigns, the exchange of experience, and the strengthening of institutional capacities to counter hybrid threats.
