EU to “scale up” sanctions if Russia intensifies aggression against Ukraine - von der Leyen
The top official delivered the statement via Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
"The EU fully supports Ukraine in the face of the Russian aggression. Any further aggressive acts against Ukraine will have massive costs for Russia. We can scale up and expand existing sanctions or adopt additional ones, if needed," she said.

As reported earlier, the Eastern Partnership Summit will launch in Brussels at 16:00 on Wednesday, December 15, chaired by European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine will take part in the summit. Belarus has ceased participation in the Eastern Partnership, while the EU continues to work with Belarusian civil society.
The participants in the summit will reaffirm their common commitment to the common values and fundamental principles of freedom and democracy, discuss progress of reform, ways to overcome current challenges, and outline priorities for the future of the Eastern Partnership program.
The Euro Summit will begin tomorrow, December 16.
On Thursday, 16 December, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will visit NATO Headquarters in Brussels.
