"We will fight to death": Ukraine's ambassador to UK on Russian threat
According to Ukrinform, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Vadym Prystaiko said this on Sky News.
"We don’t just think that he (Putin - ed.,) would (invade Ukraine - ed.). Not many people remember that, by the way, he is already there, he has already been in Ukraine for almost eight years. So there’s not big news for us,” the ambassador said.
According to Prystaiko, it is unclear at this time whether Russia will go for a full-scale invasion or a minor incursion to “annoy” Ukraine and the world, showing its strength.
"We will fight to death," the ambassador underlined when asked what Ukrainians will do if Russia does move in.
The ambassador noted that, if Germany fails to provide Ukraine with defensive weapons, it could do something else to really help Kyiv, including banning the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
“That’s what we’ve asked them so many times (to ban Nord Stream 2). Our pipelines allow supplying as much gas as they want (in Europe - ed.) and even more. So there’s no particular need (for Nord Stream 2 - ed.),” Prystaiko said.
As Ukrinform reported, on Saturday, the British Foreign Office said that in the context of military escalation by Russia, the Kremlin's plan to bring a pro-Russian politician to power in Ukraine could play a special role. The statement claims the Russian government is considering former MP Yevgeniy Muraev as a potential candidate for Ukraine’s top post.
