President Volodymyr Zelensky says that the peaceful settlement of the situation in the east was one of the key issues at talks with President of France Emmanuel Macron and hopes the Normandy format summit will take place in the near future.

"The peace process was one of the key issues of our meeting today. We expect that we will be able to hold the next round of talks of the Normandy format leaders in the near future, in accordance with the agreements reached during the Paris Summit in December 2019," Zelensky said at a joint press conference with Macron, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, an important step towards the summit is the intensification of dialogue at the level of political advisers. The previous meeting of advisers was held on January 26, and the next one is scheduled "in the coming days", he noted.
