Ukraine to get C$500 M loan from Canada
Ukrinform
The Government of Canada will provide a C$D500 million (approximately $420 million) loan to Ukraine to support the nation’s economy in the face of the threat of Russian aggression.
That’s according to Canada’s Finance Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Canada’s loan of up to $500 million is aimed to support economic stability of Ukraine, the country that is bracing for a possible Russian invasion, officials emphasized.
It is noted that this loan will be allocated in addition to the sovereign loan worth $120 million, which was announced in January.
Canada also remains committed to reducing tensions, the ministry said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, in January, Canada decided to expand and extend the UNIFIER military training mission, strengthen intelligence cooperation, and send to Ukraine non-lethal defense equipment.
