Kuleba, Truss agree on further steps to counter Russian aggression
“During a telephone conversation, the top diplomats of Ukraine and the United Kingdom exchanged assessments of the dynamics of the security crisis created by Russia and agreed on the next steps to be taken by Kyiv and London to deter Russia from further aggression against Ukraine. Kuleba expressed gratitude to Great Britain for large-scale security and financial support for Ukraine against the background of Russia's aggressive actions,” the Government portal reported on February 15.
Truss supported Ukraine's initiative to use risk reduction mechanisms in accordance with the Vienna Document and pledged support for Ukrainian initiatives in the OSCE.
The foreign minister of Ukraine pointed out the destructive actions of the Russian parliament aimed at recognizing certain areas of Luhansk and Donetsk regions as part of the Russian Federation. This poses a threat of Russia's withdrawal from the Minsk agreements if the country's leadership makes a decision to that effect. The parties coordinated steps to counter the implementation of such a scenario.
The ministers also paid special attention to the preparations for the launch of a new trilateral format of cooperation between Ukraine, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
On February 14, Liz Truss called on British nationals to leave Ukraine because of the threat of Russia's military invasion.
