"We know Russia’s playbook": British intelligence says exposed Kremlin's plans for Ukraine

The United Kingdom calls on Russia to de-escalate and engage in constructive negotiations, pointing out that Russia's scenario of creating a pretext for invading Ukraine is well-known.

That’s according to a statement the British Foreign Office posted on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"Intelligence has exposed Russia's plans to create a pretext for invading Ukraine. We know the scenario of the Russian government. Do not be deceived. We call on Russia to de-escalate and participate in constructive negotiations, "the statement said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on February 17, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced that Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Poland had launched a new trilateral format of cooperation aimed at responding to threats to European security and strengthening economic cooperation between the countries.

The G7 heads of state will hold a virtual meeting in the second half of next week, to coordinate their actions in response to Russia's aggression in Eastern Europe.
