Russia must see in practice that when the world talks about sanctions, it is actually ready to apply them.

That’s according to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who posted a series of tweets in the early hours of Tuesday, Ukrinform reports.

"World capitals don’t sleep now, regardless of their time zones. The scope & timeline of sanctions are being finalized. Ukraine insists: further Russian actions rely on how the world reacts. Russia must be in no doubt that the world talks the talk and walks the walk on sanctions," the minister wrote.

Kuleba added: Russia must see in practice that when the world talks about sanctions, it is really ready to apply them.

In this context, the foreign minister had a series of phone calls with his foreign counterparts.

"Taking into account the dynamics of the situation, I had another call with @SecBlinken ahead of our tomorrow’s meeting in Washington, DC. Key topic: sanctions. I underscored the need to impose tough sanctions on Russia in response to its illegal actions," wrote the foreign minister.

According to Kuleba, he stressed the need to apply tough sanctions against the Russian Federation for its illegal actions.

Josep Borrell, the head of European diplomacy, in a call with Kuleba assured that the EU's response would be decisive and united.

In addition, the Ukrainian foreign minister had talks with his counterparts from Britain and Canada – Liz Truss and Melanie Joly.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that all responsibility for the consequences of the decision to recognize the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" rests with Russia's political leadership.

According to Zelensky, recognizing the independence of the occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions could mean Russia's unilateral withdrawal from the Minsk agreements and disregard for the decisions taken within the Normandy format of talks.
