Despite Russia’s decision to recognize the so-called “LPR” and “DPR” as independent republics, Ukraine's international borders remain unchanged.

"Russia's recognition of the 'independence' of the self-proclaimed ‘DPR’ and ‘LPR’ violates Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," said UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo.

Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, Sergiy Kyslytsia, emphasized that despite Moscow's decision, Ukraine's international borders remain unchanged. He also pointed out the fact that Russia's decision could mean its unilateral withdrawal from the Minsk Agreements.

"We demand that Russia cancel the decision on recognition and return to the table of negotiations," the Permanent Representative of Ukraine called.

Members of the UN Security Council expressed support for the position of the UN Secretary General, who called Russia's decision to recognize the occupation administrations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions a disregard for the UN Charter, a gross violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

Our partners have demonstrated unity in support of Ukraine against the background of Russia's aggressive actions.
