Johnson announces further package of military support to Ukraine

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson announced that London would provide Ukraine with a further package of military support against the background of "Russia’s increasingly threatening behaviour".

Johnson made a relevant statement, speaking to British parliamentarians on Wednesday, Ukrinform reports with reference to Sky News.

As planned, this package will consist of lethal and non-lethal assistance, including defensive weapons.

Johnson also said that Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Nadine Dorries had sent a request to Ofcom media regulator with a request to review RT’s broadcast license.

As reported, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss reiterated Britain’s commitment to guarantee up to $500 million in loans to support Ukraine and mitigate the economic effects of Russian aggression.

On February 21, Russian president Vladimir Putin signed the decrees recognizing two self-proclaimed entities in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.

A number of countries and the EU announced sanctions against Russia.

In particular, Britain sanctioned five Russian banks – Rossiya, IS Bank, General Bank, Promsvyazbank and the Black Sea Bank – and businessmen Gennady Timchenko, Igor Rotenberg and Boris Rotenberg.
