PM Shmyhal: Ukraine has earned the right to become EU member
As the Head of Government said in his video address, the representatives of the EU Member States will consider granting Ukraine a candidate country status in the coming days. In his opinion, this issue will be one of the determinants in the history of Europe and the European Union for years to come.
"Of course, we expect this from our European partners. Therefore, we appeal not only to European leaders, but also to all citizens of Europe: support Ukraine now. Ukraine has definitely earned the right to become a member of the European Union," Shmyhal said.
The PM noted that EU citizens should speak out so that their governments have no doubts about what decision they should make.
As reported, on February 28, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application for Ukraine's membership in the European Union.
On March 7, European Council President Charles Michel said that Ukraine's application for EU membership would be discussed in the coming days.
