Zelensky on talks with Russia: Ukrainian sovereignty must be guaranteed
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in his latest video address to the nation, Ukrinform reports.
“By restraining Russia's actions, our defenders are leading the Russian leadership to a simple and logical idea: talk is necessary. Meaningful. Urgent. Fair. For the sake of the result, not for the sake of the delay,” Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian leader has recalled that 16,000 Russian servicemen have already died. “For what? What does it give and to whom?” he asked.
“The conversation must be meaningful. Ukrainian sovereignty must be guaranteed. Ukraine's territorial integrity must be ensured. That is, the conditions must be fair. And the Ukrainian people will not accept any other,” Zelensky said.
On February 24, Russian President Putin announced the launch of a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been destroying key infrastructure and residential neighborhoods.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
