Shmyhal discusses military and financial assistance with Portugal’s PM
"I underscored that the supply of modern weapons to Ukraine should be accompanied by increased sanctions pressure on Russia. I thanked Portugal for supporting all EU sanctions and expressed hope that the 6th package of sanctions would be adopted as soon as possible," Shmyhal posted on Facebook.
In turn, Prime Minister of Portugal António Costa said that Portugal stood in solidarity with Ukraine and was ready to provide all necessary assistance, including to the affected people. According to Shmyhal, Ukraine can also rely on Portugal in terms of financial assistance and support for its European aspirations.
On February 24, Russian president Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops shell and destroy key infrastructure facilities, massively fire on residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages using artillery, MLRS, and ballistic missiles, terrorize civilians in the temporarily occupied territories.
The European Union, the United States, and other countries have imposed sanctions on the aggressor country.
