German FM: There can be no common ground with Russia after February 24
"We will not be able to change the geography in Europe, but there can be no common ground with Russia after February 24. It is impossible to back down from sanctions and from the path that Ukraine is following," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock said at a joint briefing with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Baerbock assured that after February 24, Germany would undoubtedly stand with Ukraine and free Kyiv.
According to the German minister, Berlin clearly understands that economic dependence on Russia cannot bring security, and therefore "it is necessary to reduce dependence on Russian energy to zero forever."
The German foreign minister also pointed out the importance to avoid impunity for Russian servicemen who have committed crimes in Ukraine.
"In this regard, we will also ensure international prosecution by international tribunals and provide German staff to investigate these cases," Baerbock said.
As reported, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock visited Bucha during her visit to Ukraine on May 10.
