State Department: US to continue to provide Ukraine with defensive security assistance
“Russia has heretofore shown no indication that they are as of yet ready to accept that offramp [diplomacy]. So in the interim, we are going to continue to do what has demonstrably proven effective,” Ned Price, Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, said at a briefing on May 11.
As he specified, the United States will continue to provide Ukraine with defensive security assistance to fend off Russian vicious attacks, to continue to protect its freedom, democracy, and independence.
“All the while, we’re going to continue to mount economic costs and financial costs on the Kremlin and all of those who are enabling this war of choice,” Price stressed.
Moreover, the US will do everything it can to support the Ukrainian partners and hold Russian and Belarusian officials accountable to change Russia’s decision-making calculus and incentivize the initiation of good-faith diplomacy and dialogue that can diminish the violence and lead to an end to this war.
