Erdoğan offers Putin a Ukraine-UN-Russia meeting in Istanbul
This was discussed during a telephone conversation between President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and president of Russia Vladimir Putin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"President Erdogan said that if both sides reached an agreement, Turkey was ready to play its role in a Ukraine-UN-Russia meeting in Istanbul and a possible monitoring mechanism," the press service of the President of Turkey informs.
During the conversation, Erdoğan stressed the need for steps that minimize the negative consequences of the war and strengthen trust by restoring the foundations of peace between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible.
The leaders also discussed Turkey–Russia bilateral relations and the situation in Syria.
Erdogan noted that the attacks of PKK/YPG terrorist organizations against Turkey and civilians in Syria continued and pointed out the need to take measures for security in these territories.
As Ukrinform reported, a telephone conversation between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is also scheduled for Monday.
