Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has discussed Ukraine’s European integration and post-war reconstruction with Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania Edi Rama and Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović in Kyiv.

The relevant statement was made by the Government portal, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We praise the support of granting our country the status of a candidate for EU membership. Most Ukrainians today support European integration. For us, this is important moral support in the fight against full-scale Russian aggression. It is important that the hopes and aspirations of the Ukrainian people, who are courageously fighting against the Russian invaders, are justified,” Shmyhal said.

Shmyhal thanked Albania and Montenegro for their unequivocal support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, for the support of the Ukrainian people in the fight for democracy in the war unleashed by Russia.

According to Shmyhal, the European perspective is as important for Ukraine as weapons, sanctions against the aggressor and financial support.

“We are not only defending our country, but we are defending European borders and democracy,” Shmyhal added.

The Prime Minister of Montenegro noted that this visit is a political and moral necessity to be with Ukrainians at this time and to thank them for everything they are doing not only to defend Ukraine, but also to defend the whole of Europe. Abazović stressed that Ukraine can count on the support of Montenegro and Northern Macedonia in the issue of European integration.

Edi Rama stressed that Albania also supports Ukraine’s candidacy for the European Union and seeks to join future reconstruction, including the city of Irpin. In addition, the Prime Minister of Albania expressed readiness to assist in the rehabilitation of Ukrainians affected by the war.
