Warsaw warns West against pressure on Ukraine

Ukraine itself must decide on a stage and a formula to conduct a dialogue with Russia, any pressure is inexpedient.

"Not the pressure of some Western countries, but Ukraine itself must decide on a stage and a formula to talk to Russia," Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Marcin Przydacz said, Ukrinform reports with reference to Polskie Radio.

He stressed that the dialogue with Moscow after the attack on Georgia in 2008 or after 2014 had not led to stabilization and peace. On the contrary, such a policy gave Putin time to prepare for the next military operations and was perceived by him as a weakness of Western policy.

"The Polish side considers it inexpedient to put pressure on Ukraine for a premature dialogue [with Russia]," the diplomat stressed.

He noted that Putin had violated the Minsk agreements, guaranteed by Germany and France. "Therefore, it is unclear where the belief comes from that any talks and dialogue could again be perceived by Putin as binding," said the deputy foreign minister of Poland.

On June 16, President of France Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi arrived in Ukraine. Earlier, Macron said that Ukraine "will have to negotiate with Russia."
