Ukraine set to implement European Commission’s recommendations by year-end
"We expect that the implementation of all these steps is possible by the end of this year. I think that we will be able to implement most of them even faster, in terms of adopting certain legislation and implementing technical tasks," Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna said at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine–Ukrinform.
Stefanishyna stressed that the European Commission would prepare a conclusion at the end of 2022 and an assessment of how well Ukraine coped with this task. According to her, this is in our interests, because the Ukrainian side already wants to talk about the start of negotiations.
The Deputy Prime Minister assessed the seven points identified by the European Commission as not absolutely difficult or unfulfilled: "Each of them serves the interests of Ukraine, and today we are focused on implementing them."
Stefanishyna also noted that certain measures were already being implemented and the authorities would speed up these processes, complete their implementation, and adopt the necessary laws.
As reported, on June 17, the European Commission published its conclusions on the applications for accession to the EU filed by Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia and made a recommendation to grant the first two candidate status. The European Council is due to consider the issue and make a final decision at the summit on June 23-24.
