Scholz: G7 countries to side with Ukraine in fight against Russian aggression
As an Ukrinform correspondent reports, the morning session is dedicated primarily to the Ukrainian issue with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at video link.
Bilateral meetings are held in parallel. In particular, the heads of governments of Germany and Canada Olaf Scholz and Justin Trudeau talked on Monday morning. Following the meeting, Scholz said that "we will stand together on the side of Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression."
He called it a "good message" that the G7 countries make tough decisions against Russia, they will support Ukraine as much as necessary, but they will do so to avoid a “big conflict” between Russia and NATO. "It makes sense to be tough and think about the needs of the times we live in," Scholz said.
As reported, the G7 summit is held under the chairmanship of Germany in the Bavarian Alps on June 26-28.
