Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin arrives in Kyiv

Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland Micheál Martin is paying a visit to Ukraine’s capital city on July 6, 2022.

The relevant statement was made by RTE, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As part of the first official visit to Ukraine, Martin will have a look at several places in Kyiv Region, which suffered damage under Russian shelling. Later, he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to a spokesperson, Martin will engage with Ukrainian authorities on how Ireland and the EU can support the country’s current and future needs.

Martin came to Ukraine two weeks after Zelensky invited him to visit the country.

A reminder that Ireland has frozen over EUR 1.7 billion worth of assets linked to sanctioned Russian individuals and entities.
