Prosecutor General Kostin discusses joint initiatives with international partners
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Union’s Delegation to Ukraine, EU Consultative Mission, Pravo-Justice II, PRAVO Police program, EUACI, Office of the Council of Europe in Ukraine, Embassy of Great Britain, Embassy of the United States, IDLO, USAID, Embassy of Canada, and Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group.
"The Prosecutor's Office plays a key role in ensuring documentation and investigation of Russian war crimes in Ukraine, as well as in coordinating international assistance in this regard. By joint efforts, we must intensify and systematize the efforts of international experts who provide support to Ukrainian law enforcement officers in their inquiries because our goal is to restore justice," Kostin emphasized.
International partners expressed their readiness to continue to provide assistance and support to Ukrainian colleagues in the war crimes probes and other priority areas.
The participants in the meeting also exchanged opinions on the need to continue institutional development of the prosecutor's office.
The partners welcomed the efforts undertaken by prosecutors to continue sustainable development and implementation of international principles and standards. They also agreed with the proposed cooperation mechanisms and assured the top prosecutor that they share his hopes for continued and deepened cooperation.
Kostin thanked the partners for the projects that are currently being actively implemented, as well as the expert assistance that their organizations provide to Ukraine. He expressed belief that the joint work of Ukrainian law enforcers and experts with international experience will allow to restore justice and to hold accountable all those guilty of horrific crimes committed in the country - in both Ukrainian courts and in the International Criminal Court.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on August 9 Kostin held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain to Ukraine, Melinda Simmons.
