Prosecutor General discusses Russian war crimes probes with Maasikas
The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office wrote this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin held a meeting with EU Ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas. The parties discussed cooperation in the investigation of war crimes, the continued support of the European Union for the reform of the prosecutor's office and the justice system, as well as the importance of maintaining the course to overcome corruption," the report reads.
Kostin noted that citizens of Ukraine see themselves as full members of the European family.
"We remain faithful to the idea of building the prosecutor's office of a European model in Ukraine, which will work according to the best international standards. Today's priority is restoring justice and bringing to justice those who brought war to our land. And on this front, we need the help of our European partners more than ever," the Prosecutor General said.
In turn, Maasikas assured that the violation of international humanitarian law, which is currently recorded in Ukraine, and assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice, remains one of the priorities on the agenda of European partners.
Therefore, Kostin thanked Maasikas for his support and noted the significant contribution of the European Union and its institutions in bringing those guilty of war crimes to justice.
