Ambassador Prystaiko: Liz Truss’ visit to Kyiv being prepared
"When she becomes the prime minister officially, I think a call will be made immediately, and the arrangements for the visit of Liz Truss will not be delayed. We as a diplomatic system have already started to prepare both this conversation and the visit of Liz Truss to Kyiv," Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Vadym Prystaiko said during the nationwide telethon.
He also noted that he supported Truss' statement on readiness to use nuclear weapons.
"I'm sure it's the right statement, albeit quite a risky one. Not something many peacekeepers around the world want to hear, but she's dotted all the i's. Russia got the powerful signal it needed to get. Liz Truss understands well, and our minister Dmytro Kuleba reminded her that Britain was one of those countries that promised to protect Ukraine when we got rid of nuclear weapons," the Ambassador said.
On Monday, Britain's Foreign Secretary Liz Truss won the Conservative Party vote to be its new leader and will become the country's new prime minister.
