Russian intelligence creates fake website to discredit Zelensky

Russian special services have created a hoax online platform to discredit President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Western Europe.

That’s according to the President’s Office, referring to the data of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, Ukrinform reports.

"According to defense intelligence, Russian special services created a fake internet portal aimed at discrediting the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in the countries of Western Europe. On September 7, such a site appeared, targeting German audiences. It was initially supposed to be launched on September 30. There is no information about this site on the official resources of the President’s Office, no statements by Volodymyr Zelensky are available," the statement reads.

It is noted that the site has signs of a fraudulent resource created to appropriate funds under the guise of a Ukraine aid foundation.

"The project resembles a classic Ponzi scheme. We call on Ukrainians and the international community not to trust Russian fakes and to take into account information exclusively from the official platforms of the President of Ukraine and the Office of the Head of State," the press service emphasized.

As reported, the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council warned that Russia was preparing provocations within the framework of a disinformation campaign on the sales of Western weapons on the black market.
