Zelensky meets with Danish, Estonian defense ministers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met in Kyiv with Defense Ministers Morten Bodskov of Denmark and Hanno Pevkur of Estonia.

The head of state published a video of the meeting on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

Zelensky noted that Denmark and Estonia strongly support Ukraine at all stages of the country's struggle against Russian aggression, including by supplying the much-needed weapons for the de-occupation of Ukrainian territories. "Not only the resilience and endurance of our country, but also the security of the whole of Europe depend on the strengthening of the Ukrainian army," he wrote.

"I am thankful to Minister of Defense of Denmark Morten Bødskov and Minister of Defense of Estonia Hanno Pevkur for the meeting and consistent aid to Ukraine!" Zelensky added.

The presidential press service reported that during the meeting, Zelensky thanked Estonia for allocating aid to Ukraine in the amount of 0.8% of the country's GDP. "You provided very powerful support to us. This is an example of a small country by area that is a big state. The Ukrainian people and I are extremely grateful for this," Zelensky said.

He also noted Denmark's significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities by providing the necessary assistance and creating a new effective format - the Conference for Northern European Defense Allies in support of Ukraine in Copenhagen.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of further assistance to the Ukrainian army from Estonia and Denmark. "Strengthening our army directly with weapons has become the highest priority for us. The stability and endurance of our state, security in Europe depends on this. It is extremely important that you strengthen Ukraine in the security and military dimensions, supplying us with the weapons we need so much right now to de-occupy our territories," he said.

In this context, it was emphasized at the meeting that Ukraine is currently fighting not only for its freedom, but also for the future of the whole of Europe.

The head of state thanked the leadership of Denmark and Estonia for the hospitable reception and assistance to Ukrainians who have been forced to leave Ukraine due to the war.
