Meloni tells Zelensky Ukraine can count on support from Italy

Giorgia Meloni, the leader of the Brothers of Italy party that won the parliamentary elections in Italy, has assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Italy will continue to support Ukraine against the backdrop of Russian aggression.

According to Ukrinform, Meloni said this on Twitter, replying to Zelensky's tweet congratulating her on the victory in the elections.

"Dear Volodymyr Zelensky, you know that you can count on our loyal support for the cause of freedom of Ukrainian people. Stay strong and keep your faith steadfast!" Meloni wrote.

According to exit polls, the right-wing coalition won the elections to the Italian Parliament, garnering from 41% to 45% of the vote.

Zelensky congratulated Meloni and her party on the victory in the elections to the Italian Parliament.

"Congratulations to Giorgia Meloni and her party on victory in the elections. We appreciate Italy's continued support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. We count on fruitful cooperation with the new Italian government," the head of state wrote.
