Zelensky, Trudeau discuss Ukraine’s need for ‘air shield’

Ukraine needs an air shield to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Twitter, following his phone call with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Had a phone call with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Stressed the importance of a strong G7 reaction to the Russian missile terror. Ukraine needs an air shield to protect civilians and critical infrastructure,” Zelensky wrote.

A reminder that, in the morning of October 10, 2022, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine’s territory. As of 05:00 p.m., eleven civilians were reported killed and about 90 injured. About 70 objects were damaged, including 29 critical infrastructure facilities.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops used 84 cruise missiles and 24 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including 13 Iranian-manufactured Shahed-136 suicide drones. The Ukrainian military destroyed 56 air targets, namely 43 cruise missiles and 13 UAVs (including 10 suicide drones).
