Zhovkva discusses support for Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration with Iceland representative
According to the President’s Office press service, Ihor Zhovkva congratulated Iceland on the beginning of its Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which will last until May 2023. He noted Iceland's important support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as international efforts to condemn Russian armed aggression against our country and hold Russia accountable.
In addition, Zhovkva thanked for the practical help that Iceland has provided to our country since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in the form of direct budget support and financial assistance through international organizations, as well as sanctions pressure on the terrorist state.
"We especially appreciate the humanitarian assistance from Iceland, in particular, the provision of shelter and support for almost 2,000 temporary migrants from Ukraine," he said.
Zhovkva also told about Ukraine's initiative to provide international security guarantees to our state in the framework of the Kyiv Security Compact.
"We count on the support of Iceland as a NATO member state in the matter of Ukraine's accession to the Alliance," summed up the deputy head of the President's Office.
As reported by Ukrinform, Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir stated that the Nordic countries' support for Kyiv remains firm and unwavering.
