FM Kuleba meets with ASEAN Secretary-General

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Today, ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi and I met in Phnom Penh to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and Southeast Asia in areas of trade, food security, and digital transformation. Developing strong ties with ASEAN is an important part of Ukraine’s Asia strategy,” Kuleba noted.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Dmytro Kuleba and Dato Lim Jock Hoi agreed on specific steps to deepen cooperation between Ukraine and ASEAN in the aforementioned areas, strengthen political dialogue and mutual support.

In particular, the parties will hold a number of political contacts and bilateral events to take political and economic cooperation to a new level: the presentation of the investment opportunities of Ukraine and ASEAN; a business forum to establish direct business ties; the exchange of experience in the use of Ukraine’s digital platform NAZOVNI and Asia’s Access system.

Kuleba called on ASEAN to demand that Russia extend the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which plays a key role in ensuring the global food security.
