The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Urmas Reinsalu, has called on the Western allies to jointly formulate a new way of thinking in connection with helping Ukraine and exerting sanctions pressure on Russia, so that Ukraine could win as quickly as possible.

This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to the press service of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Reynsalu, the starting point of the new thinking should be that Ukraine not only needs help in a certain amount to survive the war, but also more military assistance, while tougher sanctions must be imposed on Russia – so that Ukraine wins the war quicker. This requires a greater contribution from nations, especially in the supply of weapons systems. At the same time, the head of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized Ukraine’s urgent need for long-range missiles to counterattack and deter the enemy.

"Talking about a slowdown in military activity in winter is strange in the context of the fact that the current phase of the war began in winter... Almost nine months of Russian aggression in Ukraine have led to enormous human suffering, and our support and assistance to Ukraine is more important than ever," Reinsalu noted.

He recalled that earlier, Estonia announced its new urgent package of humanitarian aid to help Ukrainians with the onset of cold weather. "Early December, we will organize a Zhytomyr reconstruction conference in Tallinn to discuss the restoration of what was damaged amid the war and to decide on the next steps," Reinsalu said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that at the EU foreign ministerial, he would also raise the issue of creating a special tribunal for Russian war crimes and also of the need to tighten sanctions on Russia, that is, to pass another sanctions package.
