Sunak, Trudeau discuss with Zelensky consequences of Russia’s attacks for Ukraine and Poland

Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and Canada, Rishi Sunak and Justin Trudeau, spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky from the G20 in Indonesia on Wednesday, November 16.

This is said in a statement published on the website of the UK Government, Ukrinform reports.

“The Prime Minister [Rishi Sunak] and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy from the G20 in Indonesia today. The Prime Minister and Prime Minister Trudeau expressed their condolences for the terrible loss of life as a result of Russian attacks on Ukraine overnight. They underscored their enduring support for Ukraine’s resistance and updated President Zelenskyy on their discussions at the G20 on this issue,” reads the statement.

The Prime Ministers emphasized the importance of a full investigation into the circumstances behind missiles falling in Poland yesterday. They stressed that, “whatever the outcome of that investigation, Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is squarely to blame for the ongoing violence.”

President Zelensky thanked Prime Minister Sunak and Prime Minister Trudeau for their support.

As reported by Ukrinform, Russia launched a massive missile attack against Ukraine on November 15, hitting infrastructure facilities and residential buildings.Ukraine’s air defense forces shot down more than 70 out of more than 90 missiles launched by Russia.

In the Polish village of Przewodów, Hrubeszów County, Lublin Voivodeship, not far from the Ukrainian border, two people were killed in an explosion on Tuesday, November 15. The incident took place near a grain drying plant at around 15:40 local time.

Western media, citing sources in the intelligence agencies, reported that the incident could have occurred as a result of two Russian missiles crossing into Poland near the border with Ukraine.

Polish government spokesperson Piotr Müller asked the Polish media not to spread unverified information and to wait for official announcements.

Later, spokesperson for the Polish Foreign Ministry Łukasz Jasina stated that a Russian-made missile fell on the territory of Hrubieszów County, Lublin Voivodeship.
