Kuleba: Ukraine warns Iran about consequences of arms supplies to Russia, ready to act
"We are now closely following Iran's every step in the matter of military-technical cooperation with Russia. All rational arguments suggest that this cooperation must be terminated immediately. But we will see what final decision will be made in Tehran and will act accordingly soon," Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said at an online briefing on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He noted that Ukraine "is working on Iran on all fronts", including warning the Iranian side about the potential consequences of supplying weapons to Russia.
"Our signal to them [the Iranian side] was very clear: first, either you stop or you will face a set of the most severe consequences; second, no matter what benefits you have from cooperation with Russia in the supply of drones or other weapons, the negative consequences for you will outweigh any benefits," Ukraine’s top diplomat said.
As reported, U.S. Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley said on December 3 that Washington would focus on preventing the supply of Iranian weapons to Russia and supporting Iranian protests instead of continuing deadlocked negotiations with Iran on restoring the nuclear deal.
