FM Kuleba announces adoption of Latin American strategy
"Latin America will be our priority this year. This is the last region of the world that we have not thoroughly dealt with yet. We already have the African strategy, we are implementing it, we have the Asian strategy, we are implementing it. The Latin American strategy will be the next strategic document adopted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this year, and you will see a powerful return of Ukraine to the area of South America this year," Kuleba said at an online briefing on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He added that the inauguration of President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on January 1 was an important event in the region. In this context, Kuleba noted that the Ukrainian delegation headed by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko took part in the solemn inauguration ceremony and held meaningful meetings with the President of Brazil and the heads of other foreign delegations.
"This high-level visit proved our state's interest in restarting Ukraine–Brazil dialogue, providing additional impetus to trade and economic relations. We heard the signals from the Brazilian side, we will actively work with them, as well as with other countries of this region," Ukraine’s top diplomat stressed.
Last October, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba was on the first African tour in the history of Ukrainian diplomacy.
