MFA China denies allegations of plans to supply arms to Russia
This is reported by Ukrinform citing a CNN story.
"The United States and other NATO countries are now constantly spreading that China may provide weapons to Russia, which is a ploy that was used and busted at the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis," Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a press briefing.
His comments came after NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday that the alliance was "increasingly concerned that China might be planning lethal support for Russia’s war."
In a speech on Wednesday, Wang said China is calling on NATO to "stop smearing China with unfounded speculations on Ukraine, abandon the old Cold War mentality of zero-sum game and bloc confrontation, and stop fomenting confrontation."
Wang also stated that the U.S. and other NATO countries are "the largest source of weapons to the battlefield of Ukraine."
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had appealed to the Chinese government not to provide any support to Russia in the war on Ukraine.
