Buildup of anti-graft infrastructure being finalized in Ukraine - PM
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal spoke of this in an interview with Germany’s Focus, Ukrinform reports.
"Ukraine is completing the development of the anti-corruption infrastructure. Institutions are fully functioning and checking all levels for corruption. Society has changed as a result of this war and no longer forgives manifestations of possible offenses. We have zero tolerance for corruption. The reaction is instantaneous. The rapid detention of persons suspected of abuse testifies to Ukraine changing the approach to these issues," Shmyhal said.
According to the prime minister, there is currently no systemic corruption in Ukraine, while isolated manifestations are not tolerated but immediately dealt with.
In addition, the head of government noted that work is currently underway to improve the antimonopoly legislation.
"Oligarchic influence in Ukraine has decreased significantly since the outset of the war. Some of the oligarchs have fled the country, some have lost their influence on the media. Almost none of them have political influence anymore. Many were forced to shut down their businesses in the east of Ukraine - their factories were either captured or destroyed,” Shmyhal said.
He also noted that market reforms are currently underway. According to the prime minister, small and medium-sized enterprises should become the core for the future recovery of Ukraine and its economy. "The structure of the Ukrainian economy will change after this war," added the prime minister.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to implement customs reform as early this year.
