NATO not interested in "freezing" war in Ukraine - Stoltenberg

This was said by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with Radio Liberty, Ukrinform reports.

When asked how likely the scenario is that the front line will be frozen where is it now, Stoltenberg said that he would be cautious about the probability of such a scenario. He thinks that it is NATO Allies' responsibility to make sure that it does not happen, to maximize the likelihood that it does not come to that.

The NATO Secretary General also said that what NATO would like to see is Ukraine can liberate more land to throw away president Putin's troops, and then that can create conditions for some kind of negotiations.

According to Stoltenberg, the main challenge now is that this war has become a war of attrition. Now there is a battle of logistics, delivery of ammunition, weapons and supplies to the front line, he added.

So now NATO Allies', Stoltenberg said, are also working hard to increase production to ensure that they can continue to support Ukraine because it is extremely important to do so in the future.

The NATO Secretary General said that it will be a tragedy for Ukraine if president Putin wins, but it is also dangerous for NATO allies. And Stoltenberg called on all allies to support Ukraine, because "it is in our security interests to demonstrate that president Putin is not winning in Ukraine".

As Ukrinform reported, Stoltenberg at a press conference in Brussels on the eve of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers said that NATO would help Ukraine, in particular in the implementation of President Zelensky's peace plan, which paves the way for a sustainable and just peace.
