Zelensky thanks Duda, Poles for standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine
He said this during a ceremony to present him with Poland's highest decoration, the Order of the White Eagle, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"It is a great honor for me to be here today with my wife and to thank President [Andrzej Duda], to thank his team, to thank the government of Poland and every Pole for what you have already done. You have not abandoned Ukraine, you stood shoulder to shoulder with us. We believe this is a historic relationship, a historic result and historic strength between our states," Zelensky said.
He said that Ukrainians who have been forced to flee the war feel at home in Poland, not as guests. He added that in the first days and weeks of the full-scale Russian aggression, when Ukraine needed maximum assistance, there, in fact, was no border between the two countries.
"I really believe that […] in the future there will no longer be any borders between us - political, economic and, very importantly, historic ones. We will do everything for this. For the sake of our peoples. But to do so, we still need to win. To do so, we need to walk shoulder to shoulder a little more and we will definitely win," Zelensky said.
