Swedish prosecutors unveil version of Nord Stream blasts

Ukrinform
Swedish Prosecutor's Office, which is investigating the blast at the Nord Stream pipeline connecting Russia and Germany via the Baltic Sea, announced its main version of the incident. Prosecutors say a state-sponsored group is behind the explosion.

This is reported by Ukrinform, referring to Reuters.

The probe is run by the Swedish Security Service under the supervision of the State Prosecutor of the National Security Division of the Swedish Prosecutor's Office.

“Our hope is to be able to confirm who has committed this crime, but it should be noted that it likely will be difficult given the circumstances,” Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist said.

According to the prosecutor, "the main clear scenario" is that a state-sponsored group was behind the attack but it is also "theoretically possible” that a private group is responsible.

"The incident has obviously become an open arena for different influence attempts," Ljungqvist said in the statement.
