White House sees no signs of Egypt transferring weapons to Russia
This was stated by US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, Ukrinform reports citing CNN.
"We've seen no indication that Egypt is providing lethal weaponry capabilities to Russia,” he said.
Kirby emphasized that Egypt is a "significant security partner" and will remain so.
“The United States military has a longstanding defense relationship with Egypt that goes back many, many years,” he said, speaking to reporters on board Air Force One.
Kirby refused to confirm the authenticity of the document or to talk about any diplomatic conversations between Washington and Cairo.
As a reminder, the "top secret document" dated February refers to conversations between Sisi and senior Egyptian military officials regarding plans to supply Russia with artillery and gunpowder and to keep these plans secret, the Washington Post reported.
An Egyptian official, who was not named by state media, called the Washington Post report "information absurdity" and said that Egypt has a "balanced policy" with all international parties, Al Qahera News reported. This statement was spread by several Egyptian state media.
