Ukraine to always remember Czechia’s help in repelling Russian aggression - Parliament Speaker
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said this during a joint briefing with the Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Republic’s Parliament, Miloš Vystrčil, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"I am grateful to the chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic for the fact that, since Russia’s full-scale invasion of our country, he has been actively and consistently defending his stance and taking practical steps for the comprehensive support of Ukraine at the parliamentary level," Stefanchuk said.
He recalled that thanks to Vystrčil's active leadership position, the Czech Senate adopted a number of decisions that are important for Ukraine, including the resolution regarding Russia’s invasion, the one on war crimes committed by the Russian army, as well as the joint resolution signed with the Chamber of Deputies regarding the support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada also drew attention to the fact that last year, when Russian troops were on the approach to Ukraine’s capital, the Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, Miloš Vystrčil, visited the country to personally show his steadfast support.
Ruslan Stefanchuk presented the Speaker of the Senate of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise II degree. "This award is the highest award that can be granted to a foreign citizen. Therefore, presenting it, I’d like to express words of sincere gratitude from the entire people of Ukraine. The award symbolizes that Ukraine and Ukrainians will always remember and will be grateful to the Czech Republic for supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression," he emphasized.
Miloš Vystrčil thanked his colleague for the honor, saying the award marks the efforts of the entire parliament rather than his personal merits.
Vystrčil noted that he is ready to continue providing help to Ukraine.
As reported, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, arrived in Prague to attend the Conference of Speakers of EU Parliaments. He will take part in the summit of heads of parliaments of the European Union member states and candidate countries for EU membership.
On April 14, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine signed a decree awarding the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise II degree to the Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, Miloš Vystrčil, "for outstanding personal achievements in strengthening Ukrainian-Czech interstate cooperation, support of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine."
