U.S., South Korea to further support Ukraine - joint statement by presidents
U.S. President Joe Biden made the remarks on Wednesday during a joint press conference in the White House with the South Korean President, Ukrinform's own correspondent reports.
"We together shared our firm shared commitment to stand with the people of Ukraine against Russia's brutal assault on their freedom, their territorial integrity and democracy. And Republic of Korea's strong support for Ukraine is important because Russia's flagrant violation of international law matters to nations everywhere in the world, not just in Europe," U.S. president emphasized.
He emphasized that it is about what the entire international community believes in and stands for, as well as about the fate of future generations.
“I believe the world is in an inflection point. The choices we make today, I believe, are going to determine the direction of our world and the future our kids for decades to come,” said Biden.
In turn, President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol said that his country, together with the United States, will continue to make efforts to support Ukraine.
He reaffirmed that the use of force to take the lives of innocent people, an example of which is Russia's invasion of Ukraine, cannot be justified under any circumstances.
In this regard, he recalled he had agreed with the U.S. leader to continue cooperation and efforts together with the international community in support of Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, the presidents of the USA and the Republic of Korea met in Washington on Wednesday. The issue of supporting Ukraine, as well as opposing Russian aggression, became one of the main topics of the leaders' conversation.
Global food security was among other topics discussed during the meeting.
