Ukraine's top prosecutor thanks Slovakia for supporting creation of special tribunal for Russia
According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office said this in a Telegram post.
"Slovakia has always been and remains a reliable partner of Ukraine, helping us resist Russian aggression and supporting Ukraine on its path to EU membership and our initiatives on the legal front," Kostin said.
He thanked Caputova for her consistent position and support for Ukraine.
"Both of our states are clearly aware that the Russian regime is terrorist, and terrorists must be stopped and brought to justice. We highly appreciate the decision of the Parliament of Slovakia to support the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression," he said.
Ukraine's prosecutor general also thanked his Slovak colleagues for their contribution to the work of the joint investigation team probing serious international crimes in Ukraine (JIT) and the help of Slovak experts who visited Ukraine and worked side by side with Ukrainian prosecutors.
"We hope for further cooperation for the sake of restoring justice and peace in Europe and beyond," Kostin added.
In September 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky formed a working group headed by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, which is working on the creation of a special tribunal to hold the Russian leadership criminally responsible for committing the crime of aggression against Ukraine. The creation of such a tribunal was supported by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and individual states.
