Bahrain's Foreign Minister tells how he sees peace in Ukraine
Al Zayani, Bahrain's foreign minister, said this during a joint press statement with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"During the talks, we discussed international efforts to end the war, in particular the efforts of His Holiness the Pope, the recent proposals of President Zelensky of Ukraine and the proposals made by the People's Republic of China. We believe that all these efforts deserve attention and can serve as a basis for negotiations to reach a settlement that respects the rights and interests of all parties and restores security and stability in Europe. Bahrain is ready to play a role in this area," said Al Zayani.
He added that he reaffirmed the importance of continuing efforts to support humanitarian operations related to refugees and the protection of civilians, as well as the importance of expanding and extending the agreement on grain exports "from Russia and Ukraine," which is important for global food security.
According to the Bahraini Foreign Minister, during the talks with the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, they also discussed the development of the global political and security situation, ongoing wars and conflicts and their devastating economic, social and humanitarian consequences, especially in the Middle East.
In this context, he emphasized the importance of concerted international efforts to promote peace and security in the region.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, who arrived on a visit to Ukraine.
This is the first visit of the Bahraini foreign minister to Ukraine since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in July 1992.
